Norman Catherine

During lockdown last year Norman Catherine drew the plates for these two prints at his studio near Hartebeespoort Dam. Until we can all get vaccinated we are not working with artists in person in the studio. Catherine's attention to detail and meticulous drawing skills have made long-distance collaboration a pleasure. He has extensive experience in hand-drawn colour separations and this knowledge means that he can manipulate the colours expertly, even though each plate is drawn in black pencil. Colour proofing was done using cell phones to check that we got the ink just right. The title Silent Water is taken from a song by Ramsay Mackay for which Catherine did the artwork for the 1978 album cover.
