KAREN HENSTRA
While for the most part, my vessels evolve from a deep-seated personal aesthetic, a recent trip to the Dodecanese Islands of Greece has inspired me to produce some work in memory of that happy experience.
Here I have begun to explore new textures reminiscent of bleached arid rockiness, the beaten metal vessels brought across by Ottomans during centuries of rule over these Islands, and perhaps even the scales and fins of the ever-present daily bounty brought home by fishermen.
My journey along this vein has just begun.
